One of the very rst suggestions came from a old friend of mine called Jude Murphy who wanted to hear a piece using Irish Uillean Pipes. I therefore called on another friend of mine (from my days in Riverdance) Flaithri Neff to do the honours with his virtuosic playing. When it came to writing this piece, I really wanted to have an element of celtic music within the melody, however, the harmony pulling at it in many directions, as is found in jazz. The groove is built from Venezuelan folkloric rhythms (provided by master percussionist Edwin Sanz) and jazz samba. I feel as though this piece encompasses everything this album is about and therefore a suitable opener track.
